How to use a CAT scale to weigh your camper or trailer to get the proper and actual tongue weight
Переглядів 2,6 тис.2 місяці тому
A great way to figure out your camper or trailer's tongue weight and the safe range for that weight is to use a CAT Certified Scale, located at many truck stops. Proper tongue weight is essential to help prevent dangerous trailer sway that can lead to a major crash, destroying your camper and even your tow vehicle. However, it can be a bit scary to roll up into an area you're not familiar with ...

    its a bit dramatic but thats what makes it fun. i installed my lift 3 weeks ago, a forklift would have been useful but not critical. a pry bar and some broomstick lengths make moving anything a breeze. i would have have had them drop it on the road and drag it in.

    Will this help remove ghost lettering after removing the decals as well?

    • @CliffsGarage
      @CliffsGarage 7 днів тому

      No, ghost lettering is caused by the fact that the car's paint is altered by exposure to elements (fading, oxidization, etc) while the paint under the decal is unchanged because the vinyl protected it. It has nothing to do with the adhesive. The only way to fix it is to restore the surrounding paint to its original condition or repaint the car.

    One of the advantages of the internal hex drive is that it prevents ham-fisted types from stripping the threads in an aluminum oil crankcase. The internal hex will strip before the drain plug pulls the threads out of the expensive engine case. That alone is reason to use them. However, it does require that you use a torque wrench to install the plug each time and I use about 90% of the manufacturer recommended torque and have never had an issue with a loose drain plug and they always remove fairly easily at the next change.

  • @LTVoyager
    @LTVoyager 12 днів тому

    I also prefer external rather than internal hex drain plugs. However, I have had cars with internal hex plugs that survived 20+ oil changes without issue. The problem is that most people over torque fasteners, drain plugs in particular. And even manufacturers tend to specify higher than necessary torque values. I generally use about 90% of the manufacturer’s recommended torque value. This is more than enough to keep the plug in place and removal isn’t so hard that it distorts the internal hex drive. Use a good torque wrench each time you insert the drain plug and reduce the torque to 90% of spec and your plugs will last the life of the car in most cases.

    Even if it measures 12.6v it could still be bad. It could be the CCA that is faulty, where it's got the voltage, but not the amps. You need a load tester as well as a multimeter to give it a more thorough test. And if all is well, then you need to check your connections for corrosion before moving to the starter motor and checking voltage there. And even then, it could be a relay, solenoid, etc etc.

    It's not made to paint one item for minute. You have to prime the machine and fill hose with paint. But once you do that to start the day, it's ready to go all day. Clea up is necessary to clear the lines so pint doesn't dry inside.

    I tested my drain of 5w30 at apx 75 f . If left to drain with air in the original tube to catch jug, the oil drains slow. When I pinch the tube at jug and squeeze out air, and let it go, the weight of oil pulls oil out quickly!!!!!!! Fast flow!

    I did all just as you did. After oil change is it normal to lose near a quart of oil? No leaks was found! Week later my same exact mower with 200 hrs locked up totally fried the engine according to Kubota maintenance garage. I am absolutely devastated!! I baby this machine and this happened. I did not think after 7 days I would have to check oil levels. (1 mowing after oil change) ZERO leaks where it’s kept in my pole barn. I use “their oil” brand 10/40. She is now in the shop getting a new engine 2500 costly repair. And of course the warranty expired Jan 2024 😡 Now I will have PTSD on this oil thing. Can you share some thoughts on this.
